A couple of weeks ago I went to visit the Covenant Realm in Second Life. Some of my friends in Second Life loves to hang-out there so I decided to take a quick look at the place.

As with most Roleplay and Combat regions in Second Life, the landing area of the Covenant Realm is their marketplace. The Covenant Realm is located in The Covenant Region and it has a very dark surrounding. Their roleplay makes use of the following characters: Vampires, Elves, Werewolves, Fairies and others. The region uses DCS2 as their combat meter.

I didn’t stay that long in the Covenant Realm because I think they were doing some rebuilding when I went there. I did take a few snapshots of the place and you can view them below.

One thing that was very obvious about The Covenant Realm is that they’re avid supporters and users of the Greenlife Emerald Viewer.

Today I had a chance to visit and explore ARTORIUS, a Roleplay and Combat place in Second Life that is both Roman and Arthurian in theme. It is located in the Cascade Falls region and has aaminah Shikami listed as owner. She also plays the role of Empress of Rome with Mike1 Langer as Emperor. The Queen of ARTORIUS is played by Thelema Parnes and King Arthur is played by TROJAN Petrovic.

I learned about ARTORIUS from aaminah Shikami. I think, if my memory is correct, she invited me to join their group but, unfortunately, I only had the time to visit the place today. Sorry about that.

Landing Area

The landing area of ARTORIUS is located at the Market which is on a sky platform about 500 meters from the ground. There you’ll find online indicators, a sign for combat rules, a big DCS2 sign and a couple of boxes for Suggestions and Applications.

I tried clicking on the combat rules sign but it wasn’t clickable and for those looking to join ARTORIUS as a roleplayer then they can do so through the Applications Box.

On the floor of the Landing Area is a red arrow that points to another red arrow that also points to another red arrow and so on. Following the red arrows will take you through the market and to the big teleporter which will teleport you to different parts of ARTORIUS.

The Market

The Market of ARTORIUS is not very big and I didn’t see many merchants. I think I only saw two merchants and they are Legend and House of Style. If there are more then I guess I missed seeing them.

Facing the direction of the red arrows, House of Style is on the left side of the path and Legend is on the right side. I didn’t look at them that long but I think they’re selling Medieval and Roman themed items. Ha ha ha! What else could they be selling in a Roman/Arthurian themed place.

The Village

The Village is also located on the same platform. For me, I wouldn’t call it a village because it’s too small and it doesn’t really look like a village. It looked more like a suburb than a village (but that’s just me).

The area is divided like a pie and, I believe, each piece (except the piece that contains the Market) is for rent. Most of the available pieces are already occupied but I did see one piece that’s still empty.

In the center of it all is the teleporter that will take you to different parts of ARTORIUS.

MAB’s Lair

The first location I visited was the MAB’s Lair. I’m not sure what MAB means but the place looks really nice. I was teleported 700 meters above ground and landed on a set of floating rock-like land formation. On them are two structures that I just can’t fully describe.

Stonehenge

Next location I visited was Stonehenge. I have only seen Stonehenge in photos and I guess it does look like the real life one only smaller.

Temple

Back to the Roman side of ARTORIUS is the Temple. Inside the Temple are images of different Roman Gods and Goddesses.

A Temple is a good RP location. You can have rituals, sacrifices, funerals, marriages, etc. in a Temple. You can play all sorts of stuff pertaining to religion and worship in a Temple.

Lady of the Lake

Under the waters of ARTORIUS is a place called Lady of the Lake. In the Arthurian Legend, “The Lady of the Lake is the name of several related characters who play parts. These characters’ roles include giving King Arthur his sword Excalibur, enchanting Merlin, and raising Lancelot after the death of his father. Different writers and copyists give her name variously as Nimue, Viviane, Elaine, Niniane, Nivian, Nyneve, Nimueh and other variations. – Wikipedia”

Bathhouse

I’ve read that during ancient times, bathhouses were very popular in Rome and that Romans would even transact their businesses in them even those relating to politics and governance.

One thing that I’m not quite sure of is if they already have colored rubber beach balls in or, in this case, outside the bathhouses of Ancient Rome.

Other Parts of ARTORIUS

There are still many places to explore in ARTORIUS like the Colosseum which looks very much like the Colosseum of The Roman Empire, the Senate House and others. These places are not just decorations. They also act as stages or settings to the story played or acted out by roleplayers.

The same goes with combat. Tournaments are better held in a Colosseum or in an Arena while raids and wars are better held in open fields.

Visit ARTORIUS

If you are looking for a place where you can have both a Roman and an Arthurian experience then ARTORIUS could be that place for you. For those interested in becoming a roleplayer, there is an Application Box inside the landing area where you can drop off your applications. I guess for combat, you’ll have to join there group so that you’ll receive notices about tournaments and raids.

Click here to visit ARTORIUS today!

I was looking for a new realm to explore when I suddenly found myself in Sands of Persia. Well, I thought I was at Sands of Persia. He he he! Actually, I was in another region connected to Sands of Persia. Hmmm, I guess I messed up my searching and my landing was not that accurate as well.

Somewhere in Sands of Persia

I tried to look around where I landed but I couldn’t find a path anywhere that might lead me to the main region. There was a Teleporter at the dock where I landed but I kinda wanted to do some walking.

Looking at the map of the region where I was in, I found out that Sands of Persia is actually made up of a few regions. Of course, there is the main Sands of Persia region too. I think I was at the Taurus Mountain region. Not sure how I get there and having no choice I used the map to teleport to Sands of Persia. This time I landed in the Marketplace Area.

Anyway, I kinda didn’t stay that long and I also didn’t look around except maybe do a 360 degree turn to take a quick glance of the place.

Today, I stumbled upon the Isle Kingdom of Merlot while searching for a new sim to explore. From what I gathered from the description of the place is that it is a Medieval/Fantasy themed sim with jousting, horse jumping, horse racing, archery and a few more activities. It also states that the sim is Newbie Friendly/New People Friendly which is always very nice to know. It shows that the sim is willing to accommodate and, hopefully, even help newbies get started in Second Life.

Isle Kingdom of Merlot

The description of the place did not mention anything specific about role play and I did not see any information about it anywhere in the sim but they do ask in their group charter that people be in period clothing and it is not even mandatory. I guess people can come wearing anything (or nothing) and it will be okay.

Being a Homestead sim, it is understandable that there are lots of empty spaces or open spaces everywhere due to a very low prim count but I think they have laid out the place nicely. They were able to squeeze in a small pier where a Viking Longboat is docked, a couple of list for jousting, a course for barrel racing and horse jumping, a small tavern, a field for archery and a couple of castles. Also, the limited resources available to a Homestead sim will surely lag the sim during an event specially on events that use horses like jousting and horse jumping.

The Isle Kingdom of Merlot also has its own group. The name of the group is also Isle Kingdom of Merlot. Currently, they only have 6 members but the group is open enrollment so anyone can join. I guess those interested can join in and maybe help build or take part in building a new community in Second Life.

Anyway, I really enjoyed my time in the Isle Kingdom of Merlot. I know there is not much to see here but I love exploring new places and looking around a new place is very enjoyable to me. I have taken a few snapshots of the place for everyone to look at (see photos below) and for those who wish to visit the Isle Kingdom of Merlot, the SLURL is http://slurl.com/secondlife/merlot or you can just click HERE!

Last month I received a Landmark to Carmarthenshire. Unfortunately, I can no longer remember who gave it to me. Sorry! Carmarthenshire, from what I gather, is a Medieval/Fantasy/Arthurian roleplay and combat sim. I dropped by a few days ago and took a stroll around the sim.

Carmarthenshire Dock

The landmark that I have dropped me on a dock where I was greeted by a sign that says “No OOC Beyond This Point”. LOL! Around the landing area are some things of interest like a box of FREE Clothes that does not give anything, a big board that lists the sim’s schedule of activities, two teleporters, some chairs and a few other objects.

Also, found in the landing area are two ships and a castle like fort. I am not sure if the two ships are sailable and I did not bothered to try if they were. I have a bad experience about trying out things or objects when visiting a new sim. He he he!

Carmarthenshire Dock

Just north of the Landing Area is the Town Square and it is surrounded with different buildings. I did check a few of the buildings like the Pub and there are some houses for rent as well. The Pub does look very cozy and rooms are available for rent for only 50L$ a day.

Rent a room for 50L$ a day!

Coming out of the Pub, I then walked west of the sim where I found a couple of rental houses. I continued to walked west until I reached the edge of the sim. I was looking for a path to the Marketplace but did not find any so I traced my steps back to the Town Square. The path that lead me to the edge of the sim and then back is not a boring path because along the path are stuff to see.

Carmarthensire!

Back at the Town Square, I then entered the Castle gates. I wanted to go to the fair grounds but the gates lead me to the Castle Ballroom. I looked and looked everywhere but I did not find any path that leads to it. I do not want to use a Teleporter but I had no choice because some areas can only be accessed through it. I found a Teleporter just outside the ballroom and used it.

Ballroom!

I first went to the Sword Arena which was way up in the sky. The arena looks amazing with good details and above it is a floating island that is kinda evil looking. I then went to visit the Jousting Area and it was a pretty big area with three jousting fields or lists. From the way the lists are setup I think the two further lists are for jousting practice and the one with the stands is for tournaments.

Sword Arena

There is also this round shaped arena but I do not know what it is for and a little further down is a Market Area. The Teleporter lists it as Old Marketplace. From there I teleported to the New Marketplace which was still very much empty, my guess is that they are still moving, and right beside the New Marketplace is the Fair Grounds.

My visit to Carmarthenshire ended at the Fair Grounds but there are still much more places to visit and explore around the sim. I am very much sure that I have missed a few spots around the sim and did I mentioned that I only visited MERLINS FOREST which is only one of the two sims that makes up Carmarthenshire? The other sim is MERLINS SHRINE but I will leave this one for you to explore.

Overall, I like what they did in Carmarthenshire. The only two places that I did not quite like are the two Market Areas. Why? Because both looked very disorganized and I find that using a Teleporter to get there (at least that was how I did it) will not be very appealing for a shopper but that is just me.

Anyway, I enjoyed my visit to Carmarthenshire and if you are interested in medieval/fantasy/arthurian roleplay then you’ll find a notecard with all the information you will need to get started at the Old Marketplace. The information box thingy located at the landing area does not have any information in it. LOL! For those interested in medieval combat, Carmarthenshire has it too.

Come and visit Carmarthenshire today or visit their website for more information!

Today, I found myself outside the gates of Lakeshire, a Medieval Fantasy Roleplay community. Of course, I did not stay outside the gate. I went inside after grabbing some welcome freebie medieval outfits. I grabbed the set for men, of course. LOL!

Welcome to Lakeshire

If I remember it correctly, I received there rules and other information notecards upon landing and, as always, I strongly suggest that you read and understand them before moving forward. I kinda hesitated after reading the Rules but since nobody was around, I fought off my hesitation and went inside.

The first thing I looked for here at Lakeshire was there Tournament Grounds and I found it just left (depends on where you are faced) of the gates. Inside are arenas for Archery, Melee and Jousting.

Entrance to the Tournament Grounds

The Arenas for Archery and Melee Fights are right beside each other while the Jousting Arena is located a little at the back. Looking at the setup, it is safe to assume that tournaments involving Archery, Melee and Jousting are held here (DUH!). When are these tournaments held? That I do not know! Ha ha ha! Sorry, I didn’t see any schedule posted anywhere and if there was any then I guess I missed it.

The Archery Range

Jousting Arena

Near the entrance area are merchant stalls/space for rent. Checking the rental vendor, I learned that it cost only 300L$ for 30 days to rent that particular space. A few houses are also available for rent and the one I checked cost 600L$ for 30 days. If you are interested then you can always drop by and visit the place to verify the information presented.

House for Rent

By the way, for those wanting to rent a home here at Lakeshire I would just like to inform you that I only found one toilet. My guess is that you’ll have to share it with your neighbors and the public. Ha ha ha!

The Toilet!

Located at the other side of the street, which faces the toilet, is a platform where they hang people. I tried it myself and it looks very uncomfortable. So, if you are in Lakeshire then don’t forget to “Respect the Law”.

Hanging Around!

Lakeshire is a very small medieval village but they do have a huge Castle and in front of the castle is a small Clock Tower where you can just sit back and enjoy the surroundings.

The Clock Tower

Lakeshire is a nice medieval town to visit. It’s not big but I think it has enough elements for a Second Life resident to enjoy both roleplay and combat.

If you wish to check out Lakeshire then you can find it in-world at Multiples of Lust (103/1/22).

Today I visited Egypt Valley of the Gods. A roleplay and combat sim inspired by ancient Egypt and owned by Skyyy McCallen and Lurgan Ling. They were once the rulers of RPG Empire’s Egyptian Empire but unfortunately it was closed but, now, they have their own Egyptian sim to rule. I only found out about it while I was at Medieval England. It seems that they have some roleplay going on between each other. The Pharaoh gave me a landmark and I also requested to be added to the group so that I could get notices of events and other updates.

As always, my visit starts at the landing area where you will find a teleporter that will take to, what it seems to be, four major locations on the sim. These locations are; 1. Arena of the Gods, 2. Harem, 3. Bast Temple and 4. The Pyramid. Of course there are other locations that were not listed like the Market, the Bathhouse and others. Oh, I almost forgot the mighty Nile River.

The sims version of Nile River runs across the middle of the sim starting from the landing area. It actually splits the sim into two with bridges connecting each half. While I was walking along the banks of the river, I noticed two animals. An alligator and a family of hippopotamus. I didn’t see any fish though but maybe it’s because I didn’t look closely enough.

They have a small market composed of a couple of tents and they have items for sale like skins, furnitures, jewelries and others. A few meters from the small market is the Sphynx and Pyramid. Inside the Pyramid is a box and a coffin. I didn’t see anything else inside.

Not far from the Pyramid is an Egyptian Temple. Inside I saw two idols and a small garden. Near the temple is the HQ. I would assume that HQ means “headquarters”. I guess this is where they plan and strategize their future battles, wars and raids.

Moving further to the edge of the sim I reached the shore where I big ship is marooned. I then crossed the river to reach the other side where I found what they call the Queen’s Tent. Based on the name alone, I can say that this is the Queen’s personal place in the sim. LOL!

Next to the Queen’s Tent is a Bathhouse and a structure with thrones inside. Beside it is the Harem which looked like a club to me but according to Google a Harem is a place in the Arab household where men are forbidden. I guess it’s just the name of the place.

The last location I visited is the arena which they call Arena of the Gods because it was located way up in the sky. To get there, I used one of the teleporters that are near major locations in the sim.The arena looked very different than the other arenas that I have seen because I didn’t see any walls around it (see snapshot). The feeling of falling was all over me while I was walking around the arena.

My visit of Egypt Vallery of the Gods ended at the arena. During my time there, I didn’t see anyone which is good in someways because I was not in period clothing. I try very hard to not upset anyone in the sim that’s why I usually visit when there are no people in it.

Anyway, Egypt Vallery of the Gods is a nice sim with lots of sand, sand dunes and open spaces. It has RP relations with Nippon and Medieval England, at least that is what I know, so you’ll have lots of RP fun if you are into roleplaying. My only concern is that the sim is an open space sim and we all know that open space sims are not recommended for normal day to day sim use but if they’re able to cope with the lag issues then I guess it’s fine.

Finally, I would like to invite everyone, roleplayers and non-roleplayers in Second Life, to come and take a look at Egypt Valley of the Gods.

A few days ago I went and visit Renaissance Island, an RP and Combat sim set in medieval times. I got the landmark to Renaissance Island from Dale Harmison’s jousting group in Second Life. The landmark dropped me right beside the Jousting Arena but I didn’t want to start there. Now, when I landed near the jousting arena I received a welcome message and a notecard with information about the sim. In that notecard are landmarksto various key locations in the sim and since I wanted to start my personal tour from the beginning I choose and opened the most obvious starting location which is the Common Area.

At the common area, you will find a calendar of the sim’s upcoming events, a sign that gives out information about the sim in a notecard, a dummy named Goody Throckmorton and a carriage stop. The carriage stop works like this, you touch it and then a ridable horse drawn carriage appears in-front of you. You can then ride the carriage and it will take you to various locations around the sim. I only rode it to take a quick snapshot but did the exploring on foot.

Around the common area are empty houses and in one side is a church. Information about the church can be acquired by touching the small sign pasted near its door. Beside the church is a small cemetery with a crazy looking skeleton dancing under a tree. I also found a sword in a stone that acted like a donation/tip jar because if you want to pull out the sword then you must pay it at least 1 linden dollar for the chance but I don’t think the sword can be pulled out of it though.

Other locations worth mentioning are the Lagswell Hall where I found a small flower garden infront of it, the Wharf where I found some torture devices, the London Globe, the Bulwark and the Market where, obviously, you’ll find medieval items for sale. Oh, I almost forgot, the Jousting Arena where jousting tournaments are held.
Finally, I ended my tour of Renaissance Island at the Bulwark where I thought I would find an arena for melee combat but instead I found cannons. Anyway, the best way for anyone to appreciate Renaissance Island is by taking a look at it personally. So, drop by and take a tour around Renaissance Island.

I wrote about my visit to Sydney Harbour 1808 just a few minutes ago but it seems that it took me too long that my session time expired before I could finish writing it and because of that the editor didn’t save what I wrote when I clicked on the save button. Instead, it asked me to login again. Arrgh! This made me remember why I like Wordpress better than Joomla when it comes to writing and editing text. Anyway, I’ll try to re-write a brief one this time.

In my initial visit to Sydney Harbour 1808 I landed underwater. I tried to get out of the water by sitting but unfortunately I haven’t rezzed enough yet to see any chairs to sit on. I teleported back home and tried again at a later time. After a while I received a message from the owner of Sydney Harbour, GaiaGirl Gigamon, informing me that she has fixed the landing area. I went back after a few hours and this time I landed on the pier infront of the Rum Rebel Inn.

I started my personal tour of Sydney Harbour 1808 around the Rum Rebel Inn and move around it until I got to the other side. The sim has two land masses separated by a body of water. The Rum Rebel Inn is located on the south side of the sim and I got to the north side after crossing some hanging bridge which is over a huge rock formation.

The entire sim is like a big port with huge ships docked all over the place. I guess the huge ships are the main attraction of the sim because there are just so many of them. Actually, I haven’t been to a sim with that many big ships before so to me they’re that many already. LOL!

There are also shops at Sydney Harbour and you’ll find them around the Rum Rebel Inn. I also found a church, a prison, a courthouse and a lot of empty houses.

Anyway, I enjoyed my little tour of Sydney Harbour 1808. Ms. GaiaGirl Gigamon did a wonderful job with Sydney Harbour. So, if you are looking for a new place to visit and hangout in then drop by Sydney Harbour and enjoy the amazing ships that are docked around it. Regarding RP and Combat, please send an IM to GaiaGirl Gigamon or just drop by Sydney Harbour to get more information.

By the way, Sydney Harbour 1808 is also listed in our RPG Sims Directory where you can check out other RPG Sims and if you know or own an RPG Sim in Second Life then, please by all means, list it in the directory. It’s FREE!

Today, I had the time to check out Jabberwock. Jabberwock is a pirate themed sim and it’s not just one sim, it is made of 5 interconnected sims. That means, if you are a sea lover, you’ll get to enjoy more ocean space for sailing and sea battles. Jabberwock or Pirates of Jabberwock is owned by Antigua Jewell.

I landed at the docks near a tavern named Calico Jack’s. I’m not a pirate expert but according to Wikipedia Calico Jack “was an English pirate captain during the early 18th century. His nickname was derived from the calico clothing he wore.” I guess it’s a fitting name for a tavern. In the tavern were three people but I can only remember the names of Kurt Jiagu and Antigua Jewell. Kurt Jiagu was busy talking to another visitor of the sim. All three of them left afterwards but I was able to ask permission to look around the sim.

The most important thing to remember in exploring new sims is to first read and then follow their rules. If it’s an RP/Combat sim then it is always best to wear a visitor tag or an observer tag so that you won’t interfere with any RP that may be happening. In the landing area is a crate which contains a Pirate starter set and the visitor tag. I already have a visitor tag which I can customize to suit the sims requirements but I still grabbed the starter set because of the free swords and suits inside.

The sim has a nice Island feel to it and there are many places where you can hangout and relax with your special someone. For example, I found two cave formations along the shore furnished with poseballs. The houses near what seems to be a church are fully furnished with beds, chairs, couches and others

Like most, if not all, RP/Combat sims, they make some money by renting shop spaces or vendor spaces. Most of the shops are located along the docks but some are found behind the tavern. I also found a rental box beside a big ship. I’m not sure if its for the ship or for the space and on one of the ships that were docked around the island, a lady named Rachel Boram was just standing there in a pose.

For those interested in combat, sea battles are held on Saturdays at 5:00PM SLT, Thursdays at 12:00PM SLT and Sundays also at 12:00PM SLT. If you wish to learn more about it then I suggest that you come here at Jabberwock or contact the owner.

I enjoyed my little tour of the island and as I’ve said there are 4 more other sims but I’ll just let you explore that for yourself. The people that were there when I landed were accomodating and friendly. No, I didn’t get a chance to talk to them but I did observe how they accomodated another visitor besides I’m not very chatty!:)

More Snapshots

Here are a few more snapshots of the sim. I’m no professional photographer but I do hope you enjoy them.
