RP and Combat Sims
A Look at Feudal Nippon
Feudal Nippon is a new RP/Combat sim owned by Ronin McGinnis. As the name implies, Feudal Nippon is a Japanese themed sim and, since it’s Japanese themed, it is expected that those who wish to RP in Feudal Nippon to also be in Japanese costumes.
My landing to Feudal Nippon wasn’t very pleasant because I kinda landed on a property which is protected by a Land Protection gadget. 10 seconds later I was ejected off the land. Ouch!
I don’t really have a landmark to Feudal Nippon. What I did to find it was, I searched for Temporal Rifts Empire which is another sim owned by Ronin McGinnis and to my luck, Feudal Nippon is connected to Temporal Rifts Empire. So, I just like clicked somewhere on it, hit the teleport button and I was there.
The Landing Area
Feudal Nippon’s landing area is inside a small shack near the docks. There you’ll find free items like katanas and kimonos, a group invite gadget for easy group joinin, the rules and regulation which you must read before proceeding and a map of the place.
As you can see, I’m not wearing a Japanese costume, I was in my Urban Warrior kinda outfit that day (which cost me a lot of linden dollars by the way, LOL) but I do have a big OOC sign floating above my head (OOC, Out Of Character). I was hoping that it was enough to show anyone who could be there that I’m not RPing (Roleplaying) but just visiting.
Near the landing area is the dock and there you’ll find a 7Seas Fishing Game setup. 7Seas Fishing Game is a good way of attracting new people to your place and also helps in increasing your land’s traffic. It’s like camping with a different twist!
The Shops, Vendors and Stores
Around the landing area are vendor spaces and shops that sell various kinds of stuff from like weapons and clothing. The shops get bigger as you walk along the path which leads further into Feudal Japan.
I don’t know how much it cost to set up a shop or vendor space here at Feudal Nippon but I did found an empty shop space with a rental box and it says 350L$ per week with 75 prims. I guess the smaller spaces are much more cheaper than this one.
Moving Inside the Sim
I continued to follow the path that seems to lead further inside the sim and along the way I was greeted by some cherryblossoms. I guess it wouldn’t be called Nippon or Japan if there weren’t any cherryblossoms around. I kinda like the pink ones than the white ones though.
At the end of the path were two stuctures, a Tea House and a Store of somekind that has various items for sale inside. On the side of the store is a big DCS2 vendor. DCS stands for Dynamic Combat System and it is the RP/Combat system used in Feudal Nippon. If you wish to do some fighting in Feudal Nippon then you’ll have to purchase a DCS2 Combat Meter. Don’t worry it’s very cheap. It’s only 75L$.
Near the entrance of the store is a SLX Terminal where you can transfer funds from your Second Life account into your SLX account. SLX or SLExchange is an online shop that list and sells various items from various creators and merchants in Second Life. I do a lot of my shopping at SLX’s website. Why? Because searching for the items you wish to buy is so much easier at SLX than searching for it in-world.
Inside the store you’ll find vendors for all sorts of things like weapons and armors but what really caught my attention was the small cube inside one of the cubicle. I guess the vendor placed it there to reserve and mark the space because if not then that cube must be worth a lot to be put there. LOL!
Also, inside this store is a teleporter that will take you to the Arena. You’ll also notice that near the teleporter to the Arena is a vendor from LL Action Designs. I believe the owner of this brand is Lienna Lowey. I’ve heard that she loves to complain a lot during tournaments and fights about cheating and stuff. Personally, I don’t think that’s following the rules. If I remember correctly, complaints should be done after the event and not during and should also be sent via IM or notecard so that it won’t disrupt whatever it is that’s happening but I guess that’s not my problem anymore! LOL!
The Arena
So, I used the teleporter to teleport to the Arena which was located 500 meters up in the sky. It’s a very big arena with lots of room for specatators.
In the middle of the arena is the combat pit. I called it pit because it’s just what it is, a pit. LOL! On the sides are the tournament board and on one of the side is an archery range. I guess they have archery tournaments as well.
At the back of the arena is a building of some sort and I think this is where th Imperial Family watches the fights. I went up there and it has a good view of the entire arena.
Back On The Ground
Afterwards, I teleported back down where I had a little problem getting out of the store. I got disoriented and couldn’t immediately find where I entered. He he he!
When I finally got out, I continued my tour of Feudal Nippon. Using the map to navigate, I was able to find the Shinto Shrine and the house or base of the Shadow Clan. Between these two is a path that leads to the next sim. I didn’t go there, instead I went back to checkout the waterfalls and the houses above it.
I didn’t entered any of the houses because I think they’re private homes and I don’t want to be ejected once again. Once a day is enough! LOL!
On Top of the Mountain
On top of the mountain which is beside the the Tea House rest a huge structure which I believe is the Imperial Palace. I made my way up there by foot because flying is disabled and is not allowed in Feudal Nippon. I was very careful because I didn’t want to fall down and start over again. The building or the structure looks very nice but I felt that it was too simple for the Imperial Family. I guess I was expecting something more extravagant since this is the Imperial Family we are talking about but maybe that’s how they like their home. Simple yet elegant!
Beside it is a smaller structure and this time I had to walk with my body next to the wall because there was no path leading to it. When I got there, I found out that it is being rented by Shay Daviau. Again, I just stayed outside.
Beside it is a pagoda (or is it a tower) and inside are teleporters to residential skyboxes. I guess this skyboxes are for rent but just contact or IM Ronin McGinnis for rental information and details.
Tour Ends
My personal tour of Feudal Japan ends at the Pagoda (or tower or whatever it is called, LOL). I should have visited the Geisha house but unfortunately I’m not into that kind of entertainment but you are more than welcome to check it out yourselves if you want to.
Feudal Nippon is not an exact replica of feudal Japan. It is a Roleplay/Combat sim with a Japanese theme and the people who live here only play Japanese roles. They’re not really Japanese but they do somewhat follow the culture and history of feudal Japan.
Home and shop/vendor space seekers, please IM Ronin McGinnis for more information. If you are into RP searching for a Japanese themed sim to RP on then drop by Feudal Nippon anytime. Just follow their rules and regulation and I’m sure you’ll have lots of fun there.
